FAQ's

  1. Can I sign up to only one of the modules in each course?

It is not recommended, but if you can prove you have prior Pilates teaching certifications and experience, we will grant you access to specific modules in each course. This is done on a case by case basis. Please reach out so we can discuss further.

2. I only want to do Studio I - is this possible?

Absolutely! You can opt to only attend the first retreat and complete your level one certification. Once you have completed all the relevant hours for Studio I and pass your written and practical exams, we will be able to issue a certificate of completion for that level. You will not be able to call yourself a Comprehensive Pilates Instruction, with the 3rd Generation Title until you complete all 3 levels though.

3. Can I start teaching for money as soon as I have finished Studio I?

Yes and No! This depends on the amount of experience you have and should really be done on a case by case basis. You might not have Pilates teaching experience but you are a seasoned personal trainer or Yoga teacher who knows their anatomy and functional movement inside out. You just need to practice teaching Pilates - in this case it won’t matter so much about whether you can charge or not. If you are covered under your insurance cover (Which we will speak about into more detail when you are with us) then you can teach Pilates after Studio I. If this is your very first opportunity to work physically with people, you might feel very uncomfortable proceeding with giving tactile cues to strangers. At this stage you should use friends and family to help you with your teaching practice.

4. Do I need to have access to the Pilates equipment to complete my course?

All the Pilates apparatus mentioned above is crucial to becoming a comprehensive certified Pilates instructor. To obtain the teacher certificate you would need to practice on all the relevant pieces. You don't need to own your own big pieces; you could find a local studio, gym or fitness centre that would have the apparatus for you to practice on.

5. I am not interested in taking the course to become a Pilates teacher. I want to learn it to work on my own practice and improve my own technique, plus have a fitter body for life. Is this course suitable?

Absolutely! You can opt out of the certification hours and use the practice you get from the in-person tutorials, the retreat and the online sessions with Anita to make the most out of your own technique and to short circuit your own physical wellness journey. Moreover, you will have lifetime access to all the written, published and video materials in the course which you can refer back to anytime you want. The quality of the course will remain the same, so the published prices will still be valid.

6. Are your certifications NPCP (PMA) Pilates Certifications?

NO. Anita Horry Academy © is a private company offering Pilates teacher training programs and Pilates Mat, and Comprehensive Pilates Certifications. Neither the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) nor the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP) trains instructors to teach. The NPCP offers an exam that awards their title of Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT). In order to sit for the NPCP (PMA) exam, you must complete at least 450 hours of Pilates teacher training*. This 450 hour training minimum must include mat, Reformer, Trapeze Table, Pilates Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector and the Magic Circle. If your goal is to take the NPCP (PMA) Pilates certification exam, your AHA Pilates Comprehensive Course is a total of 600 hours (both in-person and online formats), and will fully prepare you to take the NPCP (PMA) exam.

Anita has been instrumental in shifting my energies from giving it all to other people and instead growing my own business. She is passionate about helping teachers like myself and very hands on, from buying equipment, streamlining schedules, websites, best practices, procuring media strategists, and moral support. She is a wonderful person and entrepreneur. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking to pivot their livelihoods from working for others to living their dreams!

Monica, NYC

. Perhaps the most invaluable qualities that make Anita the best Pilates master teacher one can wish for are her sunny character, her emotional intelligence that enables her to examine one’s personal emotional state and parallel it with the physical, and her ability to transfer passion and energy onto those whom she teaches and trains.

Veli, Berkley, USA

It was amazing because you are amazing! Your great passion for Pilates and the way you encourage people to lead a healthy lifestyle including body and mind, really translates into great results for all your clients.
